Murchison Falls National Park

It was gazetted as a game reserve in 1926 and later raised to a national park status in 1952. Murchison Falls National Park is one of the largest and oldest protected areas in Uganda covering an area of 5072 kmsq it also shares boundaries with Karuma and Bugungu wildlife reserve as well as Bundongo Forest home of chimpanzees and various primate species. The park is home to 76 species of mammals and over 400 bird species. The park is divided into two sections by the Victoria Nile that is the northern and southern section, the northern side is home to many wildlife animal species than the southern side.
Rwenzori Mountains National Park
Rwenzori Mountains National Park was gazette in 1991 and was recognized as a world heritage site in 1994. The park is home to 18 mammal species, 217 bird species, 9 species of reptiles and 6 species of amphibians. Large mammals include elephants, buffaloes, giant forest hogs, bush bucks, chimpanzees and rare leopard commonly found in the forest zone but rare to see.
