Which dates are still available for Gorilla trekking in December?
Which dates are still available for Gorilla trekking in October? October is a popular month for gorilla trekking in Uganda, and travelers planning to visit Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park should confirm permit availability before finalizing their safari dates. Gorilla trekking permits are issued for a specific date, park and trekking sector, and availability can change quickly as tour operators and independent travellers make reservations. October 2026 still offers opportunities for gorilla trekking, but the exact available dates cannot be guaranteed without checking the current Uganda Wildlife Authority permit system at the time of booking.
Availability may differ between the four main trekking sectors of Bwindi: Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga and Nkuringo. One date may be fully booked in Buhoma while permits remain available in Rushaga or Ruhija. Mgahinga may also have spaces, although its daily permit allocation is more limited. Travelers with flexible dates and no fixed preference for a particular sector normally have a better chance of securing permits during October.
October falls near the end of Uganda’s second dry season, although occasional rainfall should still be expected in the tropical forests. The month attracts visitors because temperatures are generally comfortable, forest conditions can be manageable, and it fits well into longer wildlife safaris covering Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kibale Forest National Park and Lake Mburo National Park. Demand can therefore be high, particularly during the first half of the month and around weekends.
Which dates are still available for Gorilla trekking in October? Anyone interested in trekking during October should provide several preferred dates rather than relying on a single day. Permit availability should be confirmed before paying for accommodation or purchasing international flights. Once a suitable date and sector have been identified, the permit should be reserved immediately because spaces can disappear without notice. Early confirmation also makes it easier to select convenient lodges, organise transportation and create a well-paced Uganda gorilla trekking itinerary.
