What a Uganda Gorilla trekking trip costs in 2026. These are just a few of the main national parks to visit in Uganda, each offering its own distinct attractions and experiences. Whether you’re interested in gorilla trekking, game viewing, birdwatching, or cultural encounters, Uganda’s national parks have something to offer every type of traveler.

The best time to visit Uganda largely depends on your interests and the activities you plan to do. Uganda generally has a tropical climate with two main seasons: a dry season and a wet season. Here’s a breakdown of the best times to visit based on these seasons and popular activities:

1. Dry Season (June to August, December to February):
   • This is generally considered the best time to visit Uganda for wildlife viewing and gorilla trekking.
   • The weather is dry and pleasant, making it easier to navigate through national parks and engage in outdoor activities.
   • Wildlife congregates around water sources, making it easier to spot them during game drives and boat safaris.
   • Gorilla trekking trails are less muddy and slippery during this time, offering better trekking conditions.
2. Shoulder Seasons (March to May, September to November):
   • These months fall between the dry and wet seasons and are characterized by occasional rains.
   • While wildlife viewing is still good, some areas may be more challenging to access due to muddy roads.
   • This is a quieter time for tourism, meaning fewer crowds and potentially discounted rates for accommodations and tours.
   • Birdwatching is excellent during these months as migratory bird species arrive in Uganda.
3. Wet Season (March to May, September to November):
   • The wet season in Uganda experiences heavier rainfall, particularly in March to May.
   • While the rain can make some roads impassable and hiking trails muddy, it also brings lush green landscapes and beautiful scenery.
   • Gorilla trekking and other activities are still possible during the wet season, but trekking conditions may be more challenging.
   • This is a great time for birdwatching, as many bird species are breeding and nesting during the rainy season.

Ultimately, the best time to visit Uganda depends on your preferences and priorities. If you’re primarily interested in gorilla trekking and wildlife viewing, the dry season months of June to August and December to February offer the most favorable conditions. However, if you’re looking for discounted rates, fewer crowds, and lush landscapes, consider visiting during the shoulder or wet seasons.
