Reteti Elephant Sanctuary was established to rescue and release orphaned and abandoned elephant caves in Kenya and where possible return them to the wild and continue monitoring them. It is also a symbol of the local Samburu communities standing up united for wildlife, in recognition of the many values it has for them in helping conserve and protect these elephants. It was established in 2016 in the Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy located in Northern Kenya. It is the only community owned elephant orphanage in Africa. Reteti Elephant Sanctuary offers great opportunity to see orphaned elephants and local community support in towards conservation in Kenya.
