How to get to Trackers Safari Lodge.
Like most of the lodges in Buhoma, you can access Trackers lodge by both road and Domestic flights from Entebbe.
By Domestic flight. These are available in Entebbe with the nearest point of landing in Kihihi at Kihihi Airstrip and from there take a 4×4 safari vehicle to get to the lodge in Buhoma. The flight from Entebbe to Kihihi is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes to the Airstrip and from the airstrip to the hotel is approximately 1 hours’ drive. By taking a flight with either Aerolink or Kampala Executive Aviation you will reduce the time that would rather be spent on the road to do optional activities around the lodge.
By road. This requires a rather longer time to get to the lodge from Kampala which is approximately 8-9 hours’ drive and it’s recommended to use a 4×4 safari vehicle as the roads at some point are bumpy and not tarmac. But don’t be discouraged to drive, this journey to many is an experience and enjoyable and very scenic something to consider doing with stops in craft shorts, at the Equator crossing, lunch half way and scenic views for photography.
If you are coming from Rwanda this drive is somewhat short for just 5-6 hours’ drive from Kigali taking you to cross the border into Uganda, this is interesting as you take trip via the genocide museum in Kigali and you can start the drive even as late as mid-day.

One of the most common activities done from the lodge for visitors at Trackers Safari Lodge. Our safaris are community engaging and we and our clients are advised to get involved a way of giving back to the community, mainly are the Batwa community of Bwindi which is the indigenous tribe that previously inhabitated the Bwindi Forest and used to live a simple life of hunters and fruit gatherers, they depended on the forest for all there livelihood i.e medicine, food, worship, when Bwindi was gazatted and considered a heritage site, they where relocated into settlements on the forest edges where they have lived for years a life of poverty, but through doing these community walks you are giving back to them and improving there livelihood. We also have other projects that we support like the womens group in Bwindi, community schools where we encourage donations inform of scholastic materials and community walks.
Bird watching in Bwindi.
From here you can emback on a birding trip with the forest having more than 350 birds species of those 23 are endemics to the Albertine Rift Valley region meaning you will only find them here and no where else. Birding trips usually require half day to a full day and the charge is USD40 for park entry and USD80 for the bird guide specialist.
Hiking and Nature walks.
Bwindi is a rainforest with lots of rivers origination from here, plan species and animals that can be spotted. So with this many are interested in adventuring this huge forest to see the rivers and plants here which some have not yet been explored.
