Things to do in Arawale National Reserve
July 31, 2022Things to do in Ruma National Park. Ruma National Park is the only terrestrial park in Nyanza Province. It was established as the Lambwe Valley Game Reserve in 1966 to protect its indigenous population of the rare roan antelopes. In 1983 it became Ruma National Park. The park is great for seeing the endemic Roan antelopes only found here in Kenya.
The park is also great for filming the classic East African Landscape of rolling golden savannah dotted with picturesque acacia trees backed by dramatic hills and a magnificent escarpment plus a mosaic of riverine woodland and balanties trees.
Other wildlife to see in Ruma National Park include Leopards, buffaloes, hyena Rothschild giraffes, oribis, Jackson and lelwel hartebeest, impalas, bohor reedbuck, serval cat, topi, baboons, monkeys, bush pigs and many more. For those interested in filming birds the park is also great with over 400 species including a rare intra-African migrant and the blue swallow.
