New Black Rhinos in Serengeti National Park, Eastern Black Rhinos were transferred from South Africa to Serengeti National Park 10 years back on 21st May 2010. An estimated 500 to 700 black rhinos roamed the Serengeti-Mara Ecosystem some 40 years ago before illegal hunting almost drove them to extinction. This reintroduction of Black Rhinos in Serengeti National Park aimed at bolstering the transnational Serengeti-Mara population of Black Rhinos which has to date made it the largest free-ranging population of black rhinos in East Africa. New Black Rhinos in Serengeti National Park will also give you an opportunity to a variety of other animals which include wildebeest, zebra, lion, gazelle, giraffe, spotted hyena, leopard, elephant, serval, agama lizard, rock hyrax, secretary bird, rhinoceros, buffalo, cheetah, jackal and aardwolf. The park is also home to about 500 bird species which include ostrich and black eagle among others.
