What is the process of securing Gorilla permits?

When you contact Eco Adventure Safaris, we will then contact the Uganda Wildlife Authority who are in charge of selling and issuing gorilla permits on behalf of Uganda government or Rwanda Development Board for Rwanda and we will tell you the number of gorilla permits available for your planned dates of travel for gorilla trekking in Uganda.

Uganda wildlife Authority has a reservation system that allows you to call one of the reservations staff so as to establish availability but you can as well send them an email and they will get back to you with availability. If you want to try your lack directly with Uganda Wildlife Authority, please do so in the morning as they tend not to receive telephone calls in the afternoon and evenings.

To avoid the above hustle, please do contact us with the year, month and exact dates when you want to trek and we will check availability of gorilla permits and advise each permits per family plus which side of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This is because Bwindi Impenetrable National Park has both the south and the north and some gorilla families are located and can be trekked from the north while others from the south.

Once we have found out gorilla permit availability, we will send you our invoice for payment and once money is wired on to our Bank Account, we will request you to send us your passport details as they are needed by Uganda Wildlife Authority for them to issue out your gorilla permit. We will then scan and send you a copy of this gorilla permit for your records and perusal.

About Uganda Wildlife Authority gorilla permit online booking system

In order to ease the work of checking availability and reserving of gorilla permits in Uganda, Uganda Wildlife Authority developed an online system which allows authorized and selected Tour Operators to check availability and reserve gorilla trekking permits there and then online without hassle. This system was introduced I 2016 and is currently being used by selected Tour Operators such as Eco Adventure safaris.

Initially, when a company would receive an inquiry about gorilla permits and tours, they had to contact UWA head office staff on phone or drive to their offices to check availability. This became time consuming and inconvenienced both tour operators and individual tourists. There was no chance of holding or reserving permits for 7 days as it is now meaning that gorilla permits were issued out on first come first serve to whoever would come with cash.

Due to so many telephone calls and emails, it became very hard to get audience or response something that was a problem to tour operators. With the introduction of this online system, working of checking gorilla permits has been made easy.

Who is allowed to check gorilla permits in Uganda online?

Ever since Uganda gorilla trekking permits went online, its only selected tour operators that can view and reserve them. What happens when the gorilla permit online system is down/Not working?

Sometimes Uganda Wildlife Authority gorilla permit online systems can develop complications just like any software. Once this gorilla permits online system is down or slow, we will call UWA head offices and be able to check availability on your behalf. We also have our representative who normally visits UWA offices daily and can always assist in checking and reserving your gorilla trek permit.

Can I book my gorilla permit directly with Uganda Wildlife Authority?
