Many papyrus and acacia species can be spotted in the park such as the papyrus gonelok, papyrus yellow warbler, white-winged warbler and the shoebill stork. It is one of the places in Uganda to see the shoebill stork.

Game drives in Lake Mburo National Park, the day game drive that is done between 7am to 6pm costs USD40 for foreign non residents, USD30 for foreign residents, 20,000 Uganda Shillings for East African Citizens for Adults and then for Children it is USD20, USD10 and 5000 Uganda Shillings respectively. The Night Game drive which starts after 6pm costs USD30 for the foreign non residents, USD30 foreign residents and 50,000 Uganda Shillings for East African Citizens the rates are based on per person as per Uganda Wildlife Authority official tariff for entrance fees in Uganda National parks.

How to access Lake Mburo National Park for Safari Game Drives
By Road: Lake Mburo National Park is located between the towns of Masaka and Mbarara close to the main south western road that links Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park. It is 228km drive from Kampala to Lake Mburo National Park which takes you approximately 3-4 hours drive each way. The park can be accessed from various main gates which include Kyanyanshara Gate linking you to Mihingo Lodge, Akagate Gate and Sanga Gate which leads you to Rwakobo Rock Lodge. The park is close to the main road making it easy for accessibility you will need to follow sign posts of Uganda Wildlife Authority.
By Air; Flying Safari to Lake Mburo National Park is also available via charter and scheduled flights from Kajjansi and Entebbe International Airport, operators of these route include Aero Link Uganda and Fly Uganda among others. This however needs to be booked in advance given the fact the routing is mostly determined by the number of travelers aboard the flight with the minimum being 4 people.
