Entrance Fees For Mountain Elgon National Park. Mountain Elgon National Park is located on the 4321m high Mount Elgon an extinct volcano which lies on the border of Uganda and Kenya. The park is home to a wide array of wildlife which includes mammals and over 300 species of birds. It is home to unique and beautiful Afromontane plants and forests found on the slopes of mount Elgon. It is also home to the largest intact caldera in the world habiting various unique and endemic flora and fauna. Entrance Fees For Mountain Elgon National Park per day costs USD40 for foreign Nonresidents, USD30 for foreign residents and UGX 20, 000 for East African Citizens. The Sasa Trail ascends the 4321m Wagagai peak from the small town of budadiri (1250m a.s.l) in the Sironko Valley. The shortest and most direct option to get to the top of Elgon mountain. The Sipi Trail follows a longer but gentler route starting 800 higher than Budadiri at Uganda Wildife Authority forest exploration centre at Kapkwai (2050m)

Mountain Elgon National Park is 235km drive from Kampala, you will drive East of Kampala via Jinja and proceed to Mbale town. The drive time from Kampala to Mountain Elgon National Park is approximately 3-4 hours. Mountain Elgon can also be accessed from Kidepo National Park in the north Eastern Uganda, having stops via Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve is also recommended for those driving from Kidepo National Park to Mountain Elgon National Park.
