The Agartha’s Taste of Uganda Tour, it is a small village on the fringes of the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National park, Agartha takes great pride in sharing with you how the women of her tribe, the Bakiga, prepare their favorite food. Not only do you hear how the ingredients are grown and harvested but you can witness how to shift, grind, cook, and most importantly, keep the much-loved food warm for their husbands. Agartha is a strong member of the local community group and tirelessly works to improve not only her family’s well-being but also her neighbors.
There is the Ishasha Community Project committed to conserving the bio-diversity of the area by reducing threats to the eco-system through increased economic opportunities. Locally made hand-crafts are available for purchase. You can also do village walks to interact with the communities of the area and view the UCF “elephant trench” designed to reduce crop raiding in the agricultural areas on the fringes of the National Park.
