Day 1: Dar Es Salaam – Mikumi National Park
On the first day of safari, you will be picked up at your hotel in Dar es Salaam or at the Airport and start on your drive to Mikumi National Park along the Dar es Salaam – Morogoro highway. The park is nestled beautifully nestled between the Uluguru Mountains of the Ancient Eastern Arc Mountains to the East and the Great Rift Valley Escarpments to the parks Southwest. Not very far from Dar es Salaam and on a good tarmac road the transfer from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi takes about 4 – 4.5 hours. You will arrive around noon and go straight for game drives around the park with packed lunch at a picnic site. Later in the afternoon, we drive to the Camp for dinner and overnight.
Overnight at Camp Bastian a nice lodge located just outside Mikumi Park National Park at the park’s boundaries with all amenities you can find in a luxury lodge. The lodge has beautiful gardens and a nice swimming pool where you can take a dip to cool down from the scorching African sun during the dry season. Lunch box and dinner included.
Day 2: Full-day Safari in Mikumi National Park
Spend a full day with game drives around the Mikumi National Park with a packed lunch or do morning and afternoon game drives with a lunch break at the lodge/tented camp. Mikumi National Park is part of the larger Selous Ecosystem together with the Selous Game Reserve and harbours remarkable numbers of bird species and animals. Among the animals that can be spotted at Mikumi include giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, impalas, warthogs, zebras, wildebeests, elands and many other antelopes. Apart from game drives in the park, you can also go for a guided walking safari guided by an armed ranger. Overnight at Camp Bastian Lodge at Mikumi located outside the park. Lunch box and dinner included.
Day 3: Mikumi National Park – Dar Es Salaam
This morning after breakfast check out of the lodge/camp and drive back (with picnic lunch on the way) to Dar es Salaam where the safari ends. You will be dropped back at your hotel or Dar es Salaam Airport if you depart back home or fly to Zanzibar.
